Board Recruitment

Camponi/Sasknative Rentals (SNR) is the largest Métis Housing group in Saskatchewan with 350 affordable rental units in Saskatoon. With the Hart Road Project, a high density housing development, Camponi will add 150 more units to its portfolio. Camponi/SNR is seeking strategic and engaged individuals with broad expertise in relation to delivery of non-profit housing to Métis and/or Indigenous peoples to join our board.   We currently have a particular need for individuals with experience and knowledge in the following area(s):

Qualifications:

• A background and/or understanding of the housing needs of Metis, Indigenous, or “Hard to House”;
• Credentials and experience necessary for oversight of the management team and an ability to critically assess the feasibility or propriety of key management decisions;
• Experience working with Métis and/or Indigenous Peoples;
• Knowledge of key stakeholder/players in social housing;
• Familiarity with the federal, provincial and municipal policy and legislative framework;
• Commitment to Community Development and Tenant Empowerment;
• Ability to forecast trends and opportunities relating to affordable housing;
• Knowledge of culturally appropriate and trauma informed Indigenous housing responses/solutions including experience in the area of Mental health and addictions;
• Awareness of issues affecting the housing needs of Indigenous Peoples including: cost of living, affordability and the impacts of intergenerational trauma;
• A willingness to promote CHC/SNR as an organization dedicated to enhancing community development, tenant empowerment and relationship building through communication, connection and advocacy;
• Operational or technical expertise relevant to non-profits

Board meetings are once per month. Board Members will be remunerated and will be provided with electronic devices to conduct board business. To be eligible as a nominee to the Board, Individuals cannot have been CHC or SNR staff, or a contractor to CHC/SNR, within the past 2 years.
